Many hard rock fans may be used to seeing Zakk Wylde towering on stage playing guitar with legends such as Ozzy Osbourne. Now this metal giant is doing his own thing with Black Label Society.
Wylde has been playing guitar since the age of 15. He joined bands such as Stone Henge and Zyrius. He was approached by Osbourne to become part of his band, but was still under contract with Zyrius. Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne offered $10,000 to buy him out of that contract, with success. The first show that Osbourne and Wylde did together was actually in a prison. This launched Wylde’s career as one of hard rocks super legends.
Not only is Wylde continuing to work with Osbourne on his new CD, but he is also working on Black Label Society’s new CD “Shot To Hell,” and is supposedly going to take the band’s sound back a little bit, making it harder than ever.
While there will be tracks that will “rock your brain out,” there are also some songs on the newest album for mellow listeners. After rocking out so much, even Wylde needs to degage and wind down.
Since 1999, Black Label Society has released eight CDs. Their last CD “Mafia” was released in 1995. Black Label Society has enjoyed a great bit of success in their time. The band feels they have more than enough material to fuel the international tour the group embarked on March 9.
The “Shot To Hell Tour” started in St. Petersberg, Fla., and will travel all around the nation, then the globe. From Florida to Pennsylvania, and Russia to Finland, the guys are on a big time tour that showcases one of their greatest talents and live performances.
Anyone who has ever seen Wylde knows that he carries a huge presence on stage, and his long blonde hair thrashes around to the music he creates with his guitar.
The energy behind this band is insane, and so is their performance. Hard rock fans should experience a performance from this group.
Black Label Society will be making an appearance in Louisville on April 7. They will be playing at Coyotes Nite Club at Second and West Jefferson Street.
