The images people see of celebrities are ones where they live a perfect life; their hair is always curled in all the right places, they are always laughing in their BMWs and their children are always wearing the latest name brand clothing.

Most people find a sweet sense of satisfaction whenever these images are destroyed.

For instance, when Cielke Sijben, a Dutch journalist, asked to take a picture with Hugh Grant at the premiere of his movie “Music and Lyrics” in Amsterdam-of course he said yes.

Grant had no idea the coy Sijben was going to handcuff herself to him as a prank, without having the key to release Grant from his captor.

Grant kept on signing autographs and greeting fans with Sijben following close behind.

Eventually a couple of firemen were called, and the two were separated. Sijben was arrested and Grant carried on with the rest of the night.

He dropped all charges against Sijben, thinking the prank was actually quite clever and funny in retrospect.

It’s amazing what people will do for attention. When asking a group of students here at the University of Louisville, the response was very diverse.

Some freshmen girls just want a piece of eye candy. Kimberly Feinberg, a biology major, said she would handcuff herself to Matthew McConaughey. She says, “He has a really sexy body, with wash board abs, he’s at least somewhat intelligent and he’s really personable and friendly to fans. Plus he has a cute southern accent.”

Karen Amundson, a freshman civil engineering major, said, “It would be Boris Kodjoe because he’s gorgeous and a good actor.”

When Angela White, a sophomore political science major, was asked who she would handcuff herself to, she said, “I would definitely handcuff myself to Oprah for a day because she is fabulous!”

David Learned, a freshman music therapy major, said, “[I would handcuff myself to] Lindsay Lohan. She’s been arrested before recently, so she would probably be more comfortable with it and be more natural.”

Another freshman, nursing major Lisa Green, said she would chooseTyra Banks. “Since she retired from modeling the media has been hard on her. But she is still strong,” Green said.

John Clark, a sophomore civil engineering major, said, “I don’t think there are any celebrities I’d want to handcuff myself to, to tell you the truth.”

With all the drama that comes along with fame, this statement holds a lot of wisdom.

Whether students would want a conversation, something to look at while listening to some sexy star talk dirty to them in a Southern accent or be around their role model, celebrity gossip always affords a nice moment of daydreaming about marrying Britney Spears one night in Vegas or, in this case, handcuffed to Hugh Grant.
