Smith leaves Kentucky for Minnesota
University of Kentucky’s head basketball coach departed the team this week amid calls for his resignation by fans. Tubby Smith was almost immediately hired by the University of Minnesota and became the new coach of the Golden Gophers.
The departure of Smith comes 10 years after taking over as head coach at UK after former head coach and current Louisville Coach Rick Pitino left the program to coach in the pros. Kentucky is now looking for a new head coach, and a decision as to who the new coach will be is expected soon.
Spring football to start soon for Cardinals
The University of Louisvillefootball team is getting ready to hit the field again with the start of their spring practices. The Spring practices will begin Fri., March 30, and end April 18. During the span, the Cards will have a scheduled 13 practices. All of the spring practices will be held at the Howard Schnellenberger Football Facility on the U of L campus. To conclude the Spring practice the Cards will partake in the Annual Red and White Spring game on Friday, April 20, at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium with kickoff Time set for 7:30 p.m.
