Being a member of the University of Louisville marching band, Evan Hudson was able to fulfill his dream – “to go to a BCS bowl and win.”
He is a sports nut. Soccer is his favorite, although he enjoys pretty much all sports, except baseball, which he feels “is boring, too many steroids, they get paid too much, and they play too many games,” Hudson said.
Hudson is a freshman engineering major, who hails from Western Hills High School in Frankfort, Ky.
He is at University of Louisville via Provost Hallmark Award, where his plan is to keep his scholarship and have as much fun as possible. “I want to try to get as much learning and work done and have as much fun as I can while in school,” Hudson said. “I’ll worry about the rest of my life when it starts.”
Hudson is very big into music, so it comes as no surprise that he would be in the marching band. He plays the saxophone for the band and occassionally in the jazz program; he plays the guitar, piano and drums in his spare time.
When he is back in Frankfort, Hudson plays drums for his church as well as in a band called “The Elevators.” The band consists of his father “who is an excellent guitarist,” a high school sophomore on the bass and a high school freshman who “might possibly be a protege on drums,” Hudson said.
The Elevators play mostly oldies rock music along with some funk, but with no lyrics. Hudson said he plays the melody lines on the saxophone, although he may “jazz it up a little bit.”
Hudson’s father, when not playing as an Elevator, data-processes Medicaid claims while his mom is an elementary school teacher. Hudson’s younger brother is a sophomore in high school.
A few facts about Hudson: he likes 8 a.m. classes (that has to be rare), he absolutely loves everything about the University of Louisville and previously was a Kentucky fan
