If you don’t know who Gran Bel Fisher is by now, chances are you will know him soon.
Fisher was born and raised in Sabina, Ohio, where his family has run The Littleton Funeral Home since 1905. He said working there made him more sensitive to life. The level of sensitivity he pours into his songs makes his music very real.
Fisher, 24, started playing the piano when he was just 7 years old. Throughout high school he was also able to teach himself how to play the guitar. Obviously, he has always been very interested in making his own music and now he’s playing in the big league.
So far Fisher has already caused quite a stir in Los Angeles where he currently resides and in other parts of the country.
The songs on his new album “Full Moon Cigarette” come from personal experience, Fisher said. Most of which, come from the transition of moving from a small rural town to L.A.
“Full Moon Cigarette” is gaining a lot of attention from the music industry.
“Bound by Love” should be the surprise hit of 2007,” said David Ginsburg, the program director of WBOS in Boston.
The only thing more refreshing and pleasing that Fisher’s sound is his talent.
He has a style similar to Coldplay, probably because of the smooth vocals and piano. His vibe is very relaxed, but still powerful and emotional at the same time.
Fisher is also a very talented songwriter. Some of his lyrics melt your heart, some of them make you think very hard about things, and some make you want to cry. Every song on the album has great meaning that can be appreciated by any human being with a drop of emotion inside of them.
Since perusing his musical career, Fisher has already achieved a lot. His second single off of the album “Bound By Love” was featured on the Grammy Nominated sound track to “Grey’s Anatomy.”
He has also enjoyed very successful performances on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and he performed at the ASCAP/Sundance Music Café in Park City, UT.
Fisher also has an upcoming show on the show within a show “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” on Feb. 26
His ability to deliver a great performance is a huge part in how he was discovered by Hollywood Records. After his first show at Los Angeles’ The Viper Room, he was immediately signed.
This being said his show in Louisville on March 8, should be something to see.
He will be playing at Headliner’s Music Hall. Doors open at 8 p.m. the show starts at 9 p.m. Anyone over 18 is welcome.
Tickets are $12, and can be purchased through Headliners, EarXtacy, or Ticketweb.com.
