In a direct response to the ‘Stop the Chomp’ campaign proposed by Andrew Krumme, I have recognized the argument proposed and frankly it is weak and uncalled for. Krumme’s article was not only ridiculous but unsportsmanlike as he took a low blow to the spirit group identified as the Cardinal Chompers.
By attacking the Chompers you assault their school spirit. Student-athletes recognize their fans and appreciate them.
I am not a Chomper, however, I respect what they are doing and commend their school spirit. Who cares if some may be shirtless and out of shape? Is [acting crazy] not what college sports are about?
Also the Chomp is not hard at all even if you may be inebriated. However, to simplify things a bit, long sleeve shirts could be sold with yellow sleeves and red chests to imitate the body paint of the Chompers. This will allow those who are hesitant to be shirtless with paint on their body to join the craze.
This campaign may have been created to keep you from being embarrassed of the “Chomper Craze,” but you should really feel embarrassed now by the way you disrespected the Chompers and their school spirit.
