“I am happy to announce that I will be returning here for my senior season at the University of Louisville,” said senior quarterback Brian Brohm.
Brohm’s announcement came around 9 this morning.
“I made the final decision Saturday night. There were a lot of factors that went into this decision, checked out a lot of different options and checked in to everything. [U of L Head Coach Steve] Kragthorpe has given me a great opportunity,” said Brohm.
Last season, Brohm completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 3,049 yards and 16 touchdowns, as well as lead the team to their first ever Big East title.
But coming back wasn’t an easy choice, Brohm said.
“The decision was a lot more difficult then we originally anticipated. There were a lot of factors that kept arising the coach left, we got a new coach here,” said Brohm
Kragthorpe also cited that although Brian made the right decision he knows it was difficult due simply to the amount of money that NFL teams throw potential recruits way. Kragthrope is also very excited about the opportunity.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with Brian here at the University of Louisville,” said Kragthorpe, “One thing that I knew about Brian Brohm was coming into the situation at U of L was that he was a good football player, I just didn’t realize he was so intelligent. I think he made a great decision.”
Kragthorpe also called Brohm’s decision “selfless.”
Moving on to next season, both Brohm and Kragthorpe hope to accomplish new highs for the program. One new high could even be a Hesiman race for Brian Brohm.
“Hopefully next season we will win the Big East again and maybe go for a national championship, just one more time.” said Brohm, “I feel like there’s still some things we can do here at the University of Louisville. We have accomplished some really big things and I think we can accomplish more.”
