This weekend the No. 7 Louisville Cardinals will take on the University of Connecticut Huskies at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium as both teams finish out their regular seasons.
UConn comes into the game with a couple of outstanding defensive players, juniors Danny Lansanah and Ryan Henegan. Lansanah have logged 40 unassisted and 51 assisted tackles for the season, and hope to finish the game with over 100 tackles for the season. Henegan also presents a threat and hopes to break the 90 tackle mark before his season is out.
“We have to come back, practice, watch film and come out to play. That’s all we can do,” said Lansanah.
UConn’s offense, although not as highly ranked as the Cards, has several potent weapons. Freshman Donald Brown has been very important to the UConn offense. He has run for 774 yards this season and hopes to rake in more in their final game. Also, a story from UConn is their pair of quarterbacks, DJ Hernandez and Matt Bonislawski. Hernandez has gone 86 for 147 through the air while Bonislawski is 68 for 144. Bonislawski played last week, but look for Hernandez to play some snaps considering the two alternate.
However, with the Big East BCS picture still out of focus, several games this weekend have implications. The Louisville win over Pitt last week, combined with the West Virginia loss to South Florida, means the Cards must win this weekend. WVU then must beat Rutgers to secure the Big East title and a BCS berth for the Cards.
