Fifth Third Bank’s annual World Rhythms will kick off in the Bomhard Theater at the Kentucky Center, on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. with the Afro-Cuban/Hip-Hop group, Yerba Buena opening the event.

Yerba Buena, which means “good herb” has toured with Dave Matthews Band.

Their music creates a party atmosphere with dance beats that includes gypsy and cumbia influences. Yerba Buena’s latest release, the 2005, “Island Life” includes the songs, “Bilingual Girl,” “Sugar Daddy,” “El Burrito” and “Belly Dancer,” followed their 2004, Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album Award nominated, “President Alien.” It should prove to be a show not to be missed.

Other acts performing during this event, includes Harmonia, who plays on Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. and Tango & Fire playing Jan. 26, also at 8 p.m.

The Fifth Third Bank World Rhythms will go through Feb. 16, ending with an 8 p.m. performance by Terrance Simien.
