Field Hockey set to host NCAA Championship action
For the second time in four years, the University of Louisville will host the NCAA Division I Championship field hockey tournament. The event will take place at Trager Stadium on Nov. 28 and 30.
“The University of Louisville and the field hockey program are so proud to be hosting the NCAA field hockey championship again,” said Head Coach Pam Bustin.
“Being chosen to host such a coveted event is a great compliment which reflects the dedication and passion from not only the people of our athletic department, but also from the entire Louisville community.
“The University of Louisville takes pride in providing a first-rate event for those student-athletes who dedicate and sacrifice so much to represent the sport, their universities and themselves. We look forward to a thrilling national championship tournament,” Bustin said.
Field Hockey is just the second sport to be asked to host an event of such caliber, and the only program asked to do so twice.
The last sports program at the university to host an NCAA National Championship was the men’s basketball team, which hosted the Final Four at Freedom Hall in 1969.
Diving drowns Kenyon
The University of Louisville men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams won all but one race against Kenyon on Saturday at the Wright Natatorium. The men won 162-95, while the women won 146.5-110.5.
“This was a great outing for this time of year. We battled injury and sickness and had to change our line-up at the last minute. We showed our depth and really stepped up today. We just had some great swims,” said swimming Head Coach Arthur Albiero.
Men’s soccer player claims conference honors
Sophomore midfielder David Guzman represented the University of Louisville men’s soccer team as he claimed All Big East honors last week.
Guzman was the only Cardinal men’s soccer player this season to nab the honor.
He finished the season second in scoring on the team with 11 points, four goals and three assists.
