Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?By Charles Westmoreland

Release date: Out now

The Like’s debut album “Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking?” has a sound older than the three band members’ ages í- put together.

At the ages of fifteen and sixteen, bassist Charlotte Froom, drummer Tennessee Thomas and vocalist/guitarist Z Berg are living the life teenagers only dream of.

They have already garnered street cred in the indie scene and they have created a buzz with their new album that has landed them in the starry teen dream world of MTV.

The album is a light-hearted jam with a seriousness in Berg’s vocals that belies her age.

Her voice evokes the likes of musicians such as Chrissy Hynde and Liz Phair. “June Gloom” opens with Thomas’ light-hearted drum beat and a soulful Berg singing and banging on her guitar, with Froom’s bass providing a steady backdrop.

Berg stands out with a voice that is both worldly and innocent, tugging you along with the music. “Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking?” won’t be winning any Grammys, but perhaps as these musicians get older they will take more risks.

The album stays safely in pop territory, but if you’re looking for something you can sing along to when you’re driving, this might be it.
