Despite exceptional performances by several athletes during last Friday’s swim ming and diving meet against Tennessee, the U of L women’s team fell to the Lady Vols 180-114.

In the 200-meter butterfly, Louisville freshman Abby Miller rocketed through the water in 2:03.88 seconds to set a new school record. Her notable time was in addition to a second place finish in the 1000-meter freestyle.

“This meet is just a good way for young swimmers to assess where we are and where we need to be,” said U of L head swim coach Artuhr Albiero. “”It is tough competition by design. It just shows we have a great group to build on.”

In addition to Miller’s performance, sophomore Melanie Grayling pulled off a win for the Cards in the 100-meter freestyle. She also had second place finishes in the 200- and 500-meter freestyle swims.

Senior Marianne Bradford and freshman Sarah Sandroni finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 1- and 3-meter dives.
