The No. 13-ranked Cardinals improved to 9-2 on the season with two home victories over the weekend. Louisville topped the St. Louis Billikens 6-1 Friday night and blanked Syracuse 6-0 Sunday evening, both in Trager Stadium.
Junior Jessica Javelet led Louisville with three goals and one assist against St. Louis.
“Saint Louis is a very disciplined and feisty team,” Head Coach Pam Bustin said. “But I was pleased that we were able to find ways to score – especially against a hard-working team like SLU.”
Louisville out-shot Saint Louis 21-2 in the game and held an 8-2. Javelet notched her second hat trick of the season. She leads the nation in scoring with 15 goals. The win was picked up by sophomore goalkeeper, Marie-Claire Heller (8-2).
On Sunday, Sept. 25, the Cardinals opened Big East play with a 6-0 bang. Javelet was the leading scorer of the game with three goals. Sophomores Janelle Avila and Casey Diener and senior Rachel Overton each scored one goal.
The Cards continue Big East play this Friday at 7 p.m. when they are slated to take on Connecticut at Storrs.
