The nominees for the annual Distinguished Faculty Awards and Exemplary Multicultural Teaching Award have been announced.
The Distinguished Faculty Awards are given out in three areas: teaching; service; and scholarship, research and creative activity. Each of those areas has several different categories.
In the teaching area, awards go out in the categories of full-time and part-time. Nominees are: Robert Buchanan, College of Arts and Sciences; Joseph Hagerty, J.B. Speed School of Engineering; Allen Share, College of Arts and Sciences; Pam Yankeelov, Kent School of Social Work; Marvin Yussman, School of Medicine; Kent Hatteburg, School of Music; and Richard Nowka, Brandeis School of Law.
Service awards are given for service to the University of Louisville; service to the profession; service to the community, Commonwealth and region; and national and international service.
Nominees are: Linda Ewald, Brandeis School of Law; Rick Feldhoff, School of Medicine; Susan Kosse, Brandeis School of Law; Wendy Pfeffer, College of Arts and Sciences; Hannelore Rader, University Libraries; Greg Byrne, School of Music; Ronald Eades, Brandeis School of Law; Cynthia Logsdon, School of Nursing; Hiram Polk, School of Medicine; S. Srinivasan, College of Business and Public Administration; and Enid Trucios-Haynes, Brandeis School of Law.
In scholarship, research and creative activity, winners will be named in social sciences, basic and applied sciences, and career achievement.
Nominees are: Les Abramson, Brandeis School of Law; David Gozal, School of Medicine; Donald Miller, School of Medicine; Steve Rouse, School of Medicine; Hank Savitch, College of Business and Public Administration; Geoffrey Cross, College of Arts and Sciences; Timothy Dowling, J.B. Speed School of Engineering; and Karen Jordan, Brandeis School of Law.
The winners of the DFAs and the Multicultural Teaching Award will be recognized at a public ceremony at 3 p.m. on April 13 at the Speed Art Museum. University Scholars & Distinguished University Scholars, new endowed faculty and people whose work has resulted in a new license, patent or option also will be recognized at the ceremony.
Nominees for the multicultural award are: Jane Thibault, School of Medicine; Margaret D’Silva, College of Arts and Sciences; Michael Fowler, College of Arts and Sciences; Steven B. Lippman, School of Medicine; Julie Peteet, College of Arts and Sciences; and Manuel Medina, College of Arts and Sciences.
