The Department of Public Safety today issued a safety bulletin on the University of Louisville Web site following reports of three robberies at University Place Apartments on Sunday, March 6.
The bulletin states that "three University students were victims of an off campus robbery incident at [UPA]…. Two male suspects demanding money approached the victims outside of the students’ apartment units. Each suspect displayed a handgun at the time of the robbery. The suspects were last seen fleeing the area on foot."
The DPS report can be read in it’s entirety at http://www.louisville.edu/admin/dps/Crime_Alert.htm.
These incidents are only the most recent in a rash of armed robberies on and around Belknap Campus over the last several weeks.
The Cardinal is currently still gathering details on Sunday’s incidents, and a full report will be forthcoming, as well as a feature on the crime in the Fourth District in general.
The Cardinal is also facilitating a meeting of UPA residents and a representative from DPS at the Cardinal offices, Houchen’s Building suite 007, tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting will be to address student concerns about these recent occurrences, discuss possible solutions and organize community action.
Any students living on or near campus who would like to air their concerns or may have information regarding the robberies are encouraged to attend. RSO’s or other student groups wishing to lend their support to a community response to the campus crime wave are also welcome to send representatives.
