Sabrina MinterBy Benjamin Lampkin

Just call her the chameleon. Sabrina Minter, a 5’6″ point guardfrom Chicago, is a player who is able to mold herself to anycircumstance to ensure her team’s success.

“I’m the type of person that, as long as I know how you play, Ican adapt to whatever type of person you are,” said Minter. “I’mvery easy to adapt to my surroundings.”

That ability to adapt is an important aspect of this season’steam, which had a number of chemistry problems last season thatmany players and coaches have referred to on occasion.

“This year, our team chemistry is a lot better than it was lastyear,” said Minter. “We really don’t have any set groups. If wehang out, we hang out together. We didn’t have that chemistry, andthis year we do.”

With All-Conference guard Sara Nord as her running mate, headcoach Martin Clapp will rely on Minter to run the point guardduties, freeing up Nord to launch outside shots or penetrate, whereshe can finish or hit open teammates on the perimeter.

“I’m more of a point guard; Sara’s more of a scorer,” saidMinter. “I’m used to the position of running the team.”

“I like having the ball handlers on the floor,” said Clapp.”Both of them (Nord and Minter) shoot the three well. Sabrina’sprobably our best defender, and can guard a larger guard alsobecause of her strength.”

Although Minter won’t be eligible to participate with the teamuntil after the first semester ends, the former Auburn transferwill be a valuable part of a Cardinal team looking to erase thememories of last season’s disappoints. A backcourt duo of Nord andMinter will go a long way to helping that cause.

“I know how Sara plays; Sara hopefully knows how I play,” saidMinter. “Everyone on this team, I know how they play, because I sitand watch, and observe.”
