New Runners emerge
The University of Louisville football team had one of their best games of the season rushing the ball rushing for 205 yards. Junior tailback TJ Patterson led the way with 136 yards on 18 carries scoring one touchdown. Patterson averaged 7.5 yards a carry. “I did not think that they could run the football on us like that,” said UAB head coach Watson Brown. “Nobody has been able to do that for the last four or five weeks. I was very surprised they were able to do that.”
Ragone gets his mark
The 41-21 win for U of L gives them their seventh of the season and evens their record at home to 3-3. It also makes Senior quarterback Dave Ragone the all time leader in wins for a starting quarterback with 27 for his career.
“It’s a great accomplishment,” said Ragone. “Its what I’ve always set out to do in the program. I pretty much knew at the start of my career I can never touch Chris’ [Redman] numbers. Our goal is to get as many wins as possible.”
Slatter scores
One of Ragone’s three touchdown passes went to senior tailback Tone’ Slatter. The one yard touchdown catch was Slatter’s first catch of the season, and the touchdown was his first touchdown of his career at U of L. “I told everybody that if I scored, Nate [Smith] would be kicking the extra point from about the 50, because I was going to celebrate,” said Slatter.
No longer penalty leader
For a change the Cards did not have the most penalties in a game. UAB had 13 penalties for 110 yards, while U of L had seven for 55. 35,261 people stayed out in the cold to watch Louisville send off the seniors with a blow out win.
