Letter to the Editor: Touching tributes to deranged liberals

Ken Walker’s column, “A Tribute to the Forgotten,” was filled with touching tributes to murderers and brilliant new units of energy. First, a hectare (mistakenly spelled “hectacres” in the article) is a unit of area, like a “square foot” or “square mile.” Energy is usually expressed in Joules (J) or BTUs or calories for the health nuts.

Secondly, the homage to Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal was quite touching. For those who don’t know, Mumia was convicted of shooting Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner twice, once in the back, the other in the face at nearly point-blank range with his .38. For those that don’t know, the mere sound of a .3 gun being shot even vaguely toward someone is enough to make an unsuspecting person pass out and die of sheer terror. One can only assume what happens to a person’s face and back at point-blank range. Equally touching was Walker’s tribute to, again, convicted murderer Leonard Peltier. Peltier must be even more looked-up-to in the world of deranged liberals–he killed not one government official, but TWO FBI agents in 1975. Perhaps the only innocent person in the article was Amina Lawal, who certainly should not be executed for having a child out of wedlock.

As for Iraq, Walker claims that Iraqi citizens’ lives will become worse if America tries to oust Saddam. If, by “worse,” Walker means “not being gassed to death,” then he is correct. Not to mention the 400,000 Kurds that have either been killed or are missing, as well as having over 15 million landmines strewn about in order to make agriculture impossible in Kurdish regions. The Iraqis sound like they are having a blast, quite literally. I am sure they would hate it if we took Saddam out of power.
