I have seen some pretty underhanded, backstabbing events in my life, but the “new” tuition hike has to top the list. The student body has just been sold out by those who were elected to represent us and the craziest thing is no one seems to care or notice that we just got hosed during Summer Break.
I read the article on Wave 3’s web site and it states that “the students and etc. of U of L has approved the new charge”; my question is, what students?
If this had been during a “regular” semester, the students at U of L would probably be up in arms right about now (is that why they waited, huh?), and yet no response to this has been printed anywhere in our newspaper or by the website. Is anyone there, or are we just going to “roll over” and take this?
Yeah, some of you are thinking that $25 isn’t a lot, but hey, when you are struggling to pay bills, tuition, and feed your family while going to school to become something better, IT IS A LOT. Personally, if the athletics department is facing a shortage of funds, then I think they need to re-examine and re-work their budget instead of pushing it off on those who can’t really afford it.
I’m sorry, but some of us don’t have a million dollar plus budget or a silver-spoon licking, blue blooded, East-End living life style.
