Clinton addresses capacity crowd at U of L

 The Brown and Williamson Club at the University of Lousville was filled to capacity on Friday, April 9 as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a speech for the McConnell Center.  There were more than 2,000 ticket requests in two days, which were free, but there was only capacity for 1,300 people.

Life is a funny thing. I, like most men, started out as an obnoxious little boy holding all girls responsible for infesting the world with deadly cooties. As I grew up, I slowly started to take notice of the more redeeming aspects of the female gender. Soon I was entirely willing to risk contamination. Then, as I entered my 20s, I found myself doing the unthinkable—actually moving in with a girl. Thankfully, I seem to have a high tolerance for cooties because, even though I didn't know it when I was signing the lease, this would turn out to be the best decision I have ever made.

The arena should hold 22,000 basketball fans, trailing only Syracuse University's Carrier Dome (33,000), University of Tennessee's Thompson-Boiling Arena (24,535), University of Kentucky's Rupp Arena (23,500), and Brigham Young University's Marriott Center (22,700).


Family Dollar plans quashed

Students at the University of Louisville may not have known what was going on, but Jim Patterson Stadium almost got a new neighbor. In fact, a battle was ensuing over the issue, a battle that involved these very students who didn't realize anything was going on.
