Last week's editorial about the $1 million surprise Governor Fletcher awarded the University of Louisville (U of L) is ill-informed, and disappointing. Briefly summarizing, the editorial suggested that Governor Fletcher has not noticed U of L in his term and that the Governor has funded beautification for "U of L's front door" while leaving behind important issues such as "dilapidated facilities", "parking facilities" for the new health science research center, and lastly for not allowing U of L to expand its football stadium.

Kragthorpe, Cardinals hit turf for scrimmage

It was a hectic off-season that included a coaching change at the head spot for the University of Louisville football team. New coach Steve Kragthorpe and the Cardinals started their spring season on March 30 and haven't looked back yet. The Cardinals return eight starters on the offensive side of the ball, but lost seven on defense.

Trustees OK rate hikes

The University of Louisville's Board of Trustees was busy at its April 5 meeting, approving motions for increases in tuition, housing and meal plan rates. They also passed a motion to establish a new $25 technology fee for Speed School students. Undergraduate tuition will increase by 9.
