CD ReviewBy Ken Walker

Do you like the Beatles? I am pretty sure I do not. Except for that cool song Eleanor Rigby. The problem is I think of them like I think of LFO. They are just a boy group manufactured to popularize rock music. Do not get me wrong, the Beatles were very talented. They had more talent than all of today’s boy groups put together. They just had mass appeal, so they lose my appeal.

Nevertheless, if you like them or if you do not, there is an album coming out January 8th that anyone should like. It is the soundtrack to the movie I Am Sam. The film stars Sean Penn. Nevermind the film, mind the album. It features all Beatles’ covers. It offers artists like Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, The Wallflowers, Stereophonics, The Black Crowes, Aimee Man and her husband, and many others who will rock your soul. It is an awesome assortment of talent doing songs I would normally despise… but not on this album.

This particular album has the most pre-orders on Amazon.com, Bn.com, Sonicnet.com, and Kazaa.com. This should tell you something. It is an excellent assortment of music for a road trip, a let-loose party, a room ravage, or a room savage. If you hate the Beatles, think they are okay, or love them, you will like this soundtrack. Check it out January 8th.
