Women’s tennis (5-3, 2-1) travelled to North Carolina to face powerhouse UNC (11-0, 2-0) and fell 7-0.

The Tar Heels took the doubles point with wins on courts one and three.

UNC’s Sara Daavettila and Cameron Morra defeated sophomore Andrea Di Palma and junior Rhea Verma 6-4.

Junior Dina Chaika and senior Chelsea Sawyer fell 6-0 to Alle Sanford and Reilly Tran (UNC).

Graduate student Raven Neely and sophomore Tatiana Simova took down Makenna Jones and Elizabeth Scotty, but UNC had already clinched the doubles point.

In singles play, Sawyer faced UNC’s No. 49 Jones and fell 6-0, 6-1.

North Carolina tallied another point with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Verma.

Bringing the overall score to 4-0, No. 79 Scotty (UNC) defeated Neely 6-4, 6-2.

UNC took over court six as No. 53 Sanford (UNC) defeated junior Jelena Vujanic 6-3, 6-0.

Senior Nikolina Jovic took on No. 6 Morra (UNC) but fell 6-3, 6-0.

To finish off the match, No. 4 Daavettila (UNC) secured a 6-1, 6-1 win over Di Palma.

The Cards face another tough matchup tomorrow, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. against No. 11 Duke at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
