Brief: Body found at The Bellamy confirmed as suicide

UPDATE 6:40 p.m.: According to an LMPD spokesperson, the death has been ruled as self-inflicted.

Louisville Metro Police are investigating the discovery of a body at The Bellamy apartment complex yesterday.

LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley confirmed a man’s body was found in the trunk of a car in The Bellamy’s parking garage Thursday afternoon. Smiley could not comment further as investigation is ongoing.

According to students on Twitter, the third floor of the garage was blocked off with police tape Thursday afternoon. Rumors swirled on social media of a suicide, but these rumors could not be confirmed.

At this time, details on the victim are unknown. A source said the victim was not a U of L student.

University officials could not comment on the matter. The Bellamy manager Craig Haughton did not immediately return requests for comment.
