After weeks of waiting for our Freedom of Information request to be granted, The Cardinal has obtained a copy of the resignation of Dr. Tommy Parker. Parker resigned after pornographic material on his computer was viewed by a student.

Highlights of the legal agreement are:

U of L will pay Parker $20,000.

The resignation took effect July 31, 2013. Parker’s employment with the University has been permanently and irrevocably severed.

The University seized all property in Parker’s possession. This included a laptop computer, headphones, a hard drive and case, a trolling motor and associated batteries; also a camera and case.

The resignation was not an admission of liability or wrongdoing by both parties. Instead it was a means or resolving uncertain disputes and claims between the parties.

Parker signed the agreement, after seeking legal counsel. The University agreed to supply Parker with a letter indicating his dates of employment and title if requested.

By signing, Parker fully and forever released the University of any and all claims of employment discrimination, infliction of emotional distress, defamation, wrongful termination or invasion of privacy.

Both parties agreed not to comment on the agreement, except to say that they reached a mutually satisfactory resolution.

Parker and Provost Shirley Willihnganz signed the agreement.
