According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is listed as the number one cause of death among Americans. On Sept. 25, the city of Louisville partnered with the AHA in their annual Heart Walk to raise money for the treatment and research of heart disease. Many from the University of Louisville joined in.

The city shut down the Clark Memorial bridge for the walk, as participants made their way across the Ohio river and into downtown Jeffersonville, Indiana.

According to Brooke Banet, the program coordinator at U of L, Nearly 300 U of L students, faculty and staff participated. The walkers from U of L raised over $5,000 to cure heart disease.
