The statue on Third Street, in my opinion, should not be considered racist. It should be considered historical – a look back on where we were and a look forward to where we are today. Actor Morgan Freeman has the solution spot on: “Stop talking about [race].” We’re all Americans. Let’s go with that. I don’t feel the statue should be taken down. I believe we should let it be an important reminder of our past bigotry and the bigotry that we still have today.
