St. James Art Festival returns to Louisville Oct. 2

The 2009 St. James art festival will be held in old Louisville, between 3rd and 6th street starting on Friday Oct. 2.  This year’s show will feature over 750 different artists from around the country.
Proceeds from the show will go to the St. James and Belgravia Court Association to help fund grounds upkeep and neighborhood maintenance. An additional $18,000 of the money taken in during the festival will go to a scholarship for a deserving high school student seeking to pursue a collegiate art degree.

PEACC celebrates 10th anniversary during event

The University of Louisville’s Prevention, Education and Advocacy on Campus and in the Community is an organization dedicated to the pursuit of creating an environment on college campuses that squelches violence against women. This year, PEACC is celebrating their 10th year of activity.
The group will officially celebrate its anniversary Tuesday, Sept. 29, during its annual “Take Back the Night,” event.
Take Back the Night will include a vigil and other events designed to draw attention and build awareness about violence targeting women, as well as recognizing several of the more integral members of the organization. The event will be held at the Red Barn from 5-7:30 p.m.
