After weeks of grueling homework, exams and papers, Universityof Louisville students will soon have nearly four months of summersun and fun. The fun, however, may not necessarily apply to all Uof L students.

Many students have indicated that their summer hours will befull of part-time or full-time work. Some other students, likesenior Biology major Joshua Hynes, will be juggling eight hours ofclasses and a full time job. “I’m taking classes thissummer to speed up the process of graduating,” Hynessaid.

Another graduate student, Melissa Groff, indicated that she willbe taking some vacation time at a beach in Canada though she istaking a few summer classes. “We go to Canada everysummer,” Groff said.

Quite a few U of L students have indicated that they intend towork over the summer though they haven’t gotten a jobyet.

“I’m definitely not taking any classes,” saidMax Ivanoe, a senior in Computer Information Systems. Instead,Ivanoe intends to look for a co-op or a job somewhere nearby.

Danielle Baines, a junior studying English, and Angela Stengel,a graduating senior studying Business, are hoping to get jobs forthe summer. Baines will be looking for a job in Nashville, whileStengel will be taking time off over the summer to attend abachelorette party in Las Vegas.

Hilary Whaley, a graduate student in the Kent School of SocialWork, is one of few U of L students taking off from work and schoolover the summer. Though she hasn’t yet made plans, Whaley ishoping to travel somewhere outside the United States.

Ryan Duvall, a junior studying Chemistry, will be vacationingwithin the United States a bit. Duvall will also be workingpart-time over the summer and studying on his own for the MCAT.

“It’s the summer between my junior and senior yearsand I figure I should take it easy since I’m not going tohave many fun summers after this one,” he said.
