There are a few things happening on campus before everything closes for the Christmas holiday break (all offices close on December 24 and will not open up again until January 2). The Student Activities Board has a couple of things in line for students.

As a relief for finals weeks, the SAB is sponsoring massages for students. Massage sessions will be held on December 4 to 7, and 10-11. They will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in room 314 in the Student Activities Center. The massages are free of charge. These are not the sort of massages you will find on a lonely night in Bangkok (I wouldn’t know anything about those). These are massages of a more therapeutic nature designed to offer students a stress-aid after exhaustive studying.

The film committee is also holding a sneak preview of Kate and Leopold on Saturday, December 8. There will be two showings: one at 6 p.m., and another at 8:30. The showings are the Floyd Theater in the SAC. SAB film chairman Chris Marlow said he and co-workers have arranged a total of seven sneak previews in the fall semester alone. This is the highest number of sneak previews at U of L. Expect the same amount of sneak previews, if not more, next semester.

The School of Music’s Dance Academy is conducting a performance of Clara’s Dream, based on Tchaikovsky’s Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker. These performances are on Saturday, December 8 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Margaret Comstock Concert Hall in the School of Music.

Even though there are a few events on campus during the holiday season, most of the campus will be a bare and vacant. The students are all heading home for the holidays. After December 14th, all finals should be over.

The Spring semester is approaching rather quickly. As a welcome gesture, the SAB is conducting an event called “Cruise The Caribbean.” This is something akin to a Hawaiian lu’au. Presumably, His Majesty, Haile Selassie, will be there roasting a pig carcass. The event is on January 11.
