Defending the ‘Chomp’

In a direct response to the 'Stop the Chomp' campaign proposed by Andrew Krumme, I have recognized the argument proposed and frankly it is weak and uncalled for. Krumme's article was not only ridiculous but unsportsmanlike as he took a low blow to the spirit group identified as the Cardinal Chompers.

Neighboring and cutting through the Belknap Campus of the University of Louisville are miles of train tracks used by heavy locomotives and countless railcars that pass by on an hourly basis. Just two weeks ago in Bullitt County, a train hauling toxic chemicals derailed and caught fire, forcing the county to declare an emergency.

iPod Film Festival returns for second year

The Flux has announced the 2007 edition of its iPod Film Festival, which debuted last year with entries from 11 countries. Thanks to sponsorship from Small Dog Electronics, the festival is free to enter this year, with an iPod awarded to the winner in each category and a Mac mini computer given to the Best of Fest recipient.

Head coach Rick Pitino and the Louisville men's basketball team seems to be finally showing signs of life. After an impressive win last Monday against the University of Connecticut, the Cards followed things up with a gusty performance versus Syracuse. Despite shooting under 30 percent from beyond the arc, being down virtually the entire game and still no Derrick Caracter, this team found a way to win.

Football schedule set for 2007-08 season Coming off the best season in school history, and the school's first ever BCS appearance, the University of Louisville will take on Division 1-AA Murray State University in their season home opener. The two teams have met 16 times with Louisville leading the series 10-6.
