University of Louisville sophomore swimmer Vali Preda represented the Cards at the NCAA Division I men's swimming and diving championship two weeks ago at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. There, he competed in three events, earning his third All-American honors while scoring three points to give U of L a 36th place finish.

Legality of marijuana sparks student debate

Students' minds lit up during the first of several debates hosted by University of Louisville Properties. Groups for and against legalizing marijuana debated last Tuesday night in Kurz Hall. Sgt. Steve Salyers of the Louisville Metro Police Narcotics/Vice unit moderated the event, and a panel of university faculty, staff and students, including a representative from the Commonwealth Attorney's Office, judged it.

Fire safety and the availability of university police officers topped the list of discussion items at a forum hosted by the Governor's Task Force on Campus Safety on Tuesday night at the University of Louisville. Held at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, the forum featured about 30 campus, local and state public safety officials, including Metro Louisville Police, the U of L Department of Public Safety and representatives of the State Fire Marshal's office.

Court certifies SGA election results

The U of L Student Government Associaition Supreme Court certified the 2007 election results earlier this week. Unofficial winners who were announced before spring break were certified after several pending campaign violation complaints were dropped.
