It's been about four years now here at The Cardinal, and while it pains me to say this, I feel it is time to move along. Yes, this indeed will be my last column, but before I go on my spiel here I would like to thank a few people. I know it is hard to stomach so, before you continue reading, take a deep breath, grab a tissue, pour yourself a drink and everything will be okay.

Fauthauer twins lead Cards

The University of Louisville men's golf team is in the middle of one of the most successful seasons in the history of the program. Although fairly young, the team has won five of the seven tournaments entered, earning a top 20 ranking nationally. After ending the fall season with four victories, the Cards began their spring season with a fourth place finish at the Rio Pinar Invitational and a victory at the Mission Inn Invitational.

Campus safety reviewed

Fire safety and the availability of university police officers topped the list of discussion items at a forum hosted by the Governor's Task Force on Campus Safety on Tuesday night at the University of Louisville. Held at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, the forum featured about 30 campus, local and state public safety officials, including Metro Louisville Police, the U of L Department of Public Safety and representatives of the State Fire Marshal's office.

Four students left in Belize

The International Service Learning Program's annual spring break trip took an unexpected turn this year when four University of Louisville students and an ISLP chaperone were left behind in Belize. The five had to stay in the country after program officials were informed that there were not enough seats to accommodate the entire group on a Continental Airlines flight back to the U.

‘Juvies’ too harsh

The entertainment value in watching attractive, promiscuous and shallow kids wallow in their problems is plummeting and apparently is being recognized by networks; the response-MTV's newest edition to the reality TV family, "Juvies.

Highway speed limit increase concerns students

Drivers soon will be allowed to cruise Kentucky highways at faster speeds. Gov. Ernie Fletcher signed a bill on March 21 that will raise the speed limit on Kentucky's rural highways from 65 to 70 mph by mid-June. The bill passed the state Senate with an overwhelming 35-2 vote on March 7, after passing the House 62-27.

Visual effects to highlight annual mathematics lecture

A picture is worth a thousand words. Later this month, the University of Louisville Math Department wants to prove it. Each year since 1993, U of L's Math Department has hosted a speech from a nationally-recognized expert mathematician. According to U of L's mathematics Web site, the event, known as the Bullitt Lecture, has in recent years hosted "talented high school students, area professionals, and other parties interested in the impact and excitement that mathematics has generated.
