Following interviews with all 10 of the Student Government Association executive candidates, the editorial board members of The Louisville Cardinal have made our endorsements for the top four positions of the 2008 SGA. The Cardinal has decided to endorse not one specific slate, but the individuals who we feel are the most qualified for the positions of President, Executive Vice President, Services Vice President and Academic Vice President.

Equestrian team sends four to Regionals

The University of Louisville equestrian team will be sending four riders to regionals at Morehead State University this Saturday. The equestrian team, which is a part of the Equine Business riding and racing club, was reserved champion high point team for the University of Kentucky show hosted at Lakeside Arena in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Batman: Third baseman lets his bat do the talking and makes opposing pitchers pay for their crimes

University of Louisville redshirt sophomore third baseman Chris Dominguez does to opposing pitchers what Batman does to criminals in Gotham City: he crushes them. Thursday night, thousands of students, staff, faculty, and fans piled into Freedom Hall to watch the men's basketball team beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 90-85. That same night, approximately 60 people attended a very disorganized and horribly timed Student Government Association debate sponsored by the SGA supreme court. For Justice Chris Brown and the supreme court to knowingly schedule the debate on the same night and time as a home basketball game against a ranked foe was a horrible judgment call. To ask students to choose between an Athletics event and an SGA event only further divides two of the most important bodies on campus.

There are many names on the Student Government Association ballot, and some students may be uneducated about many of the positions. Sana Abhari, candidate for senator in the University of Louisville College of Arts and Sciences, stressed the important role that an election can play in getting students involved on a college campus.
