The Central Station shopping center is a familiar site to any University of Louisville student taking the Black Loop down Central Avenue on weekday mornings. The complex contains a Kroger, Starbucks, Beef O' Brady's and many other businesses. However, 14,000 square feet of space remains un-rented.
Faulkner Real Estate, the company responsible for Central Station, is working to fill these vacancies and is soliciting input from students on how to do it. During the Oct. 7 SGA Senate meeting, a representative from Faulkner discussed how to best fill these empty spots in the complex.

Two days, two power outages

Peeking through the six-inch crease between the elevator doors at Unitas Tower on Wednesday, freshman Tyler Turner waits patiently as a rescue crew attempts to keep the doors ajar.
With an ax in hand, a member of the Louisville Fire & Rescue squad grabs Turner's hand and helps him down out of the elevator and onto the first floor lobby of the freshman residence hall at the University of Louisville.

Column: U of L’s useless wireless

2008-11-17T00:00:00-05:00November 17th, 2008|Uncategorized|

For about the twelfth time today my wireless Internet refuses to connect.
"ULSECURE connection has been cancelled," my computer informs me. This is something that has become a daily routine. Again, I attempt to connect to the Internet. (I get connected) after ten minutes of waiting and screaming countless words of profanity. In reality, this just adds to the list of things that I have gotten for my tuition money at U of L: a bunch of things that don't work so well.

After traveling three hours from Hazard, Ky. to the University of Louisville, freshman biology major Milicent Fugate found herself quite overwhelmed by the diversity of the city.
She said she was confused by the giggles about her thick accent and the hundreds of girls at sorority recruitment who were so different from anyone she had ever met. But, according to Fugate, she has taken to the situation well and like many other freshmen, has now found herself enjoying college more than she ever thought she could.

For University of Louisville students like Levon Thomason, the rising cost of college and various built-in costs have required many cost cutting methods.
Thomason, a freshman undecided major, said he is thankful for his KHEAA Cap grant, but hopes it will cover additional fees in the future, such as the meal plan. Thomason is also trying to sidestep the cost of commuting, using his U of L ID to ride TARC for free while trying to save up for a car.
