Cardinals win Billy Minardi Classic

The University of Louisville men's basketball team defeated the South Alabama Jaguars 81-54 on Sunday to take first place in the Billy Minardi Classic.

Freshman Samardo Samuels scored on Louisville's first possession, and the Cardinals (2-0) never looked back, leading the entire game.


Update: Robert Felner Committee

University of Louisville spokesman John Drees gave an update on the committees formed to investigate university policy in light of the investigation into former College of Education and Human Development dean Robert Felner.  Felner is currently under indictment on income tax evasion, mail fraud and money laundering.


New café gives SAC more options

What they saw and heard was more than a dozen University of Louisville musicians churning out smooth jazz for an appreciative audience in the SAC's new Jazzman's Café.

This Sunday's matchup of the University of Louisville and Western Kentucky University men's basketball teams in Nashville will see many Card fans trekking down Interstate 65 to enjoy a game at the end of the Thanksgiving holiday.
"I'm really excited to go to the WKU game," said Ben Henry, a junior bioengineering major.


Province to open, Stevenson may close

The Province has come to the University of Louisville, and it has brought a swimming pool, private bridge, theater, and a club house.
The Province has been planned and constructed for more than a year and in the fall of 2009, this new luxury student living space will be open to students. The new facility has not come without a cost, however. Stevenson Hall, built in 1959, may become a casualty residence hall.


University doctors get to the heart of matters

Due to a $600,000 grant from Anthem Blue Shield, the University of Louisville will be able to head a cardiovascular study that will help citizens in the Western Louisville area without access to quality health care.
The study will not only provide valuable research, but will also help West Louisville residents found to be at risk for cardiovascular disease to receive follow up screenings and aid.
"This is a great example of a community partnership with a common goal," said U of L President James Ramsey.


Campus charity full of smiles

For senior Elizabeth Self and Craig Thomas, an organization like Operation Smile represents a chance to give back to the University of Louisville community. Self and Thomas are placing their concerns not only with U of L, but with future generations around the globe. 
Operation Smile is a foundation focused on the cosmetic needs of children born with craniofacial disorders such as cleft lip and cleft pallet.
It is a widely recognized organization throughout the United States that helps raise money for these underprivileged children.

Donning her multi-colored nursing attire, Chandra Blake, a single mother and full-time nursing assistant, begins to smile as she talks about the process of building her new home.
That home, located at 3119 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., was constructed late this summer by the Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville, a non-profit organization that builds homes for needy families.
