Professor’s travels instill passion

Louisville's weather is a schizophrenic phenomenon. "It's not anything alarming, it's just kind of amazing," said Tim Dowling, University of Louisville Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy.
The Kentucky General Assembly showed courage by passing a bill to increase taxes on tobacco and alcohol. These industries are historical cornerstones of the Kentucky economy, and their lobbyists are strong. However, the General Assembly put the interests of Kentucky's citizens and students first, by voting for the measure.
Friday's game is no ordinary road trip for the Cardinals baseball team; 35 students, sponsored by the athletic department and Thorntons will be traveling to Gainesville to cheer on the No. 16 University of Louisville as they take on No. 23 University of Florida in a three game series.
As University of Louisville students Nikki Romine and Danielle Zachery sit separately, one in Strickler Hall and the other in Davidson Hall respectively, they study and eat. The difference comes in the fact that one smokes and the other doesn't.

Led by the African American Theatre Program and directed by Dr. Lundeana Thomas, students at the University of Louisville were given the chance to see "Abe Lincoln and Uncle Tom in the White House" this past week. The play offered audiences a step into the heart of the characters surrounding slavery and freedom.The play itself is divided up in two segments, but done so without an intermission.
The first portion is an excerpt from the book, "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
