Hines finds her position in post

After senior center and third leading scorer and rebounder Chauntise Wright went down during the second week of practice with an ACL tear in her right knee, the University of Louisville women's basketball team knew they needed a spark from the younger posts players. The biggest spark this season has been sophomore center Keisha Hines.
University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz knows what type of spark Hines can provide.

The Kentucky General Assembly showed courage by passing a bill to increase taxes on tobacco and alcohol.  These industries are historical cornerstones of the Kentucky economy, and their lobbyists are strong.  However, the General Assembly put the interests of Kentucky's citizens and students first, by voting for the measure.

Friday's game is no ordinary road trip for the Cardinals baseball team; 35 students, sponsored by the athletic department and Thorntons will be traveling to Gainesville to cheer on the No. 16 University of Louisville as they take on No. 23 University of Florida in a three game series.

As University of Louisville students Nikki Romine and Danielle Zachery sit separately, one in Strickler Hall and the other in Davidson Hall respectively, they study and eat. The difference comes in the fact that one smokes and the other doesn't.
On Friday, Feb. 13, the Kentucky legislature passed a tax bill that increased cigarette tax from 30 to 60 cents.


Cultural Center open to all people

 The Cultural Center at the University of Louisville is open to students of many different walks of life and seeks to provide a safe environment for diverse group engagement, discussion and socialization.
The center opened in August, 2008 and went through a series of image transformations physically and aesthetically. Previously known as the Office for Minority Affairs, the Cultural Center now has new signage on the outside and is full of bright walls and colorful artwork from the Hite Institute on the inside.
