The University of Louisville baseball team played a double-header against Pepperdine on Saturday, March 3. The team fell 3-2 during the first face-off but displayed resiliency as they bounced back to win the second game 3-1.

Sophomore pitcher Jeff Thompson played an instrumental role in the second win, striking out five players and allowing just four hits; Pepperdine accumulated only one run throughout seven innings. Meanwhile, freshman third baseman Mason Snyder earned the first triple of his career, and sophomore shortstop Alex Chittenden executed a diving stop in the ninth inning.

Head coach Dan McDonnell commented on the game, stating, “In game two, we were able to put together that two-out rally in the third and that was the difference. Both teams pitched very well and it came down to a rally or two by them and a rally or two by us. It was good clean baseball.”

The No. 14 ranked team will face Indiana University on Tuesday, March 6 at home at 3 p.m.
