After trailing 36-22 at halftime and falling behind by 18 points in the second half, Louisville put together a strong fourth quarter to defeat IUPUI 70-61 on Sunday at the KFC YUM! Center.

Briahanna Jackson and Myisha Hines-Allen led the feverish second half comeback as Louisville outscored IUPUI by fifteen points in the final ten minutes of play.

Jackson scored 23 points on eight of 17 shooting from the field and pulled down five rebounds. The transfer from UCF hit a three-pointer as time expired in the third quarter to cut the Cardinals deficit to six points. Then with 1:17 left in the fourth quarter, Jackson knocked down another three-pointer at the end of the shot clock to give Louisville a 65-58 lead. 21 of Jackson’s 23 points came in the second half.

Hines-Allen registered a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Coach Jeff Walz said his team lacked fire and pride after its 72-54 loss against Kentucky on Thursday, and the same problems seemed to resurface through the first twenty-five minutes of play on Sunday against IUPUI.

Louisville had 16 turnovers in the first half and struggled scoring, shooting just seven of 25 from the field.

The victory improves the Cardinals record to 4-5 with four non-conference games remaining until Louisville opens into its ACC schedule.

“It is going to be a flat out grind all year, we are going to have to figure out how to score points and get stops,” Walz said.
