Louisville plays University of Missouri Kansas City as its first part of the Billy Minardi Classic, a two-day, two-game event at the KFC YUM! Center.

Coach Rick Pitino started the event in 2002 to honor the memory of Minardi, his best friend and brother-in-law that died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

The Cardinals (9-1) defeated Western Kentucky on Saturday 78-56, extending its winning streak to four games.

Fifth-year senior Damion Lee leads Louisville in scoring with 18.3 points per game and has been the top scorer in eight of the ten games this season.

The 14th Annual Billy Minardi Classic includes a former Louisville assistant coach. Kareem Richardson, the head coach of UMKC was an assistant at Louisville from 2012-13. Richardson is one of nine former Pitino assistant coaches that are active Division I head coaches.
