Update at 12:20 p.m.: According to Kenny Brown of ULPD, the incident was brought to their attention at 10:30 a.m. Sunday by an unidentified source.

The incident happened in Cardinal Towne, though Brown could not confirm whose apartment it occurred in. One victim was a student at U of L, and Jones was the only arrestee enrolled at U of L.

According to Dean of Students Michael Mardis, Jones is still enrolled in U of L as of this morning. While his lawyer said Jones had withdrawn from classes, Mardis said this was not official.

Jones was cooperative with investigators and gave a statement when arrested.

Original post at 10:29 a.m.: Ex-basketball player Chris Jones appeared in court around 10 a.m. today in response to charges of rape and sodomy. Jones’ lawyer pleaded not guilty to all charges on his behalf.

The arrest warrants, obtained by University police, say Jones was allegedly involved in two incidents. The first involved a rape of a woman, the second involving forced intercourse and oral sex. Two other people are codefendants in the second incident.

Jones was placed on home incarceration and was given orders to not speak to either accuser.

He has withdrawn from classes at U of L and moved out from student-athlete housing, per his lawyer.
