The University of Louisville Belknap and Shelby campuses will be smoke-free by next June. U of L smokers will be forced to leave campus to light up. Provost Shirley Willihnganz made the announcement last week by sending out a universitywide e-mail.
On Tuesday, University of Louisville head coach Steve Kragthorpe announced that junior Justin Burke was named starting quarterback over junior Adam Froman.
Kragthorpe told reporters that Burke's consistency proved to be the deciding factor.
The second part of a three-part road construction project will begin next Tuesday, Sept. 8, shutting down parts of Eastern Parkway, from the stoplights in front of the J.B. Speed School of Engineering to the ramps onto I-65.
"This will be a short-term headache with great long-term benefits," said John Drees, University of Louisville spokesman. "We are trying to make this as painless as possible."

I hope you enjoyed Welcome Weekend here at the University of Louisville. I wouldn't know how it went. I was at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I went to a concert by Matt Nathanson, a national recording artist with a Top 40 hit under his belt. We had, oh wait, our Student Activities Board, SAB, didn't get anyone.
