Students, staff head to polls for midterms

Polling locations will be open across the nation for the 2006 midterm elections today. Many students and faculty at the University of Louisville will cast ballotts before the polls in Jefferson County close at 6 p.m. Dr. Jasmine Farrier, a political science professor at U of L, said, "The election is exciting, better drama than anything else in entertainment and sports right now.

Another Urrutia waiting in the wings

Maurice Urrutia is just like the average University of Louisville freshman. In his downtime he hangs out at Unitas Tower, he works a part-time job to pay the bills and he studies like crazy hoping to pass all of his classes. Then again the average freshman doesn't stand 6-foot-4 at 190 lbs and hit like a freight train, have a room filled with trophies and awards from high school football grandeur, have a superstar brother who projects as a future first round draft pick in the NFL and they most definitely don't have a realistic chance of playing professional football like Maurice Urrutia does.

Volleyball extends streak to 10 in a row Women's volleyball extended their winning streak to 10 as they took down West Virginia and Pittsburgh over the weekend. Against West Virginia, Louisville started slow but dug themselves out of an early deficit to win game one.
