Student discounts make life easier

College life isn't easy when dealing with personal finances. Tuition, fees, room and board, books, gas and food have to be paid for, and college students also want to have fun. Sometimes that fun can be expensive. The University of Louisville is part of the Student Savings Club, a network of more than 100 universities nationwide that offer a variety of discounts in several different areas for students.

Three University of Louisville Track and Field athletes competed in the AT&T USA Indoor Championship this past weekend at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic center in Boston, Mass. The meet is the concluding event of the USATF's Indoor Visa Championship Series and is the world's oldest indoor track championship, dating back to 1888 in New York.

I've been to open mic nights before and was either been bored stiff by the selection or sent running for the door covering my ears by the lack of talent. On their fifth record as a band, The Ataris find themselves drastically changing their entire approach to music. Not only has their overall style changed, but the entire make-up of the band has been uprooted. The only remaining members from their 2003 hit album "So Long, Astoria" are longtime front man Kris Roe and guitarist Joe Collura.

At the University of Louisville and many other college campuses across the country, a growing number of students are electing to take notes using laptop computers rather than the traditional means of using spiral notebooks and loose-leaf paper. As some of the students will admit, and some professors suspect, the small portable computers brought to class aren't always used as a complement to class work.

After becoming a pilot and placing himself on the fast track to literal stardom with NASA's space program, it seemed as though he would get his wish. If you don't know who Gran Bel Fisher is by now, chances are you will know him soon. Fisher was born and raised in Sabina, Ohio, where his family has run The Littleton Funeral Home since 1905. He said working there made him more sensitive to life. The level of sensitivity he pours into his songs makes his music very real.
