Pictures of celebrities used to be images of impeccable beauty and glamour. There is nothing beautiful about emaciated stick figures whose lives and perfect appearances are crumbling to bits, though. Celebrity news has also drastically changed. It used to be that when celebrities had a drug addiction or eating disorder they would disappear while feigning an injury or something else to that effect, hoping not to draw attention to themselves.

The University of Louisville basketball team gave the senior class one last victory at Freedom Hall. The Cardinals, who celebrated Senior Day, beat Seton Hall University 86-71 in front of a sea of 19,712 fans clad in red. The senior class has seen the ups and downs of Louisville basketball.

It's a cold March morning, an gasoline rich smell fills the air, with the engine revving up to 8,000 rotations per minute. Tires squeal as the car lunges from the start and off in to the course. As the car dodges cones left and right it nicks one and sends it flying, then makes a hairpin turn as the driver experiences two times his body weight pressing against him.

Student robbed near Belknap Campus

A University of Louisville student reported being robbed at Bradley and Brandeis Avenues to the Louisville Metro Police Department, according to a crime alert from the U of L Department of Public Safety. At 2:15 a.m. on March 2, as the student was walking home she was knocked to the ground, by an unidentified man.

Student government association elections, at least at this university, are irritating. And not just from this newspaper editor's point of view. They irk me as a student too. This year's candidates, just like those from last year and the year before, are unoriginal.

The University of Louisville softball team hosted the University of Iowa, Kansas University and Kent State University during its first tournament of the 2007 season. The Red and Black tournament was held at Ulmer Stadium on the Belknap campus from Feb. 23-25.

Senate fails to follow procedures

An emergency meeting of the Student Government Association Senate was held last week, but as the 7 p.m. start time neared, Senate leaders scrambled to fill quorum. As students and senators gathered in the SAC Campus Preview room where the meeting was held, Senate leaders began looking for proxies to stand in for senators who did not show up for the meeting.
