I took part in the "walkout" organized by Progressive Action Coalition on March 26. I take exception to the dismissive and na've position of The Louisville Cardinal in the editorial of March 25. The truth is the protesters have the courage to speak out when there is a legitimate grievance affecting the entire community.
The Student Government Association Senate passed a resolution at their March 18 meeting which recommends greater focus from the university on sexual harassment education in GEN 101 courses. Resolution 24 recommends that the Faculty Senate "consider adding information about sexual harassment, what it constitutes and what the penalties can be," effective immediately.
Last week The Louisville Cardinal published a column by Darren McVey entitled "Gay agenda, U of L promoting societal problems" that sparked quite an uproar among readers. Many agreed with McVey's stance and enjoyed the column, however, many others thought it was inappropriate and didn't belong in the newspaper.
The University of Louisville spirit groups spend the entire year cheering on every Cardinal athletic team to success. Now, they are ready for fans to cheer them on as they compete for another national championship. "It [winning a national championship] pretty much sums up our whole year," Samantha Tackett, senior Ladybird said.

As the clock strikes 1:11 p.m. tomorrow, some students may stand up and walkout of their classes, in an effort to show their disdain for tuition increases. With all that college student's hold on their plates, fighting fires wouldn't seem to fit amongst the other common collegiate activities. However, at the University of Louisville, volunteering at local fire departments isn't completely unheard of. At least that's the case for freshman, business administration major Michael Priddy.
