First annual A & S art exhibit to be held at Red Barn The College of Arts & Sciences Student Council will hold the first annual University of Louisville art exhibit - on Wed., April 9, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., in the Red Barn. Any one can enter up to four pieces in the exhibit, which will be free and open for all to view.

Hostage held at student health center; U of L student charged with murder

As a slight drizzle of rain dampened the University of Louisville's Belknap campus this morning, word was released concerning a hostage situation at the student health center. At 8:32 a.m. university police received a call from the student health center regarding a woman armed with a gun. University police responded with officers on the scene at 8:39 a.m. and discovered that a victim was being held hostage, according to Cindy Hess, director of communication and marketing at U of L. The officer called for backup and the suspect was disarmed at 9:14 a.m.

Three days. Three crimes. Three crime reports. Over the course of seven days two University of Louisville students and a non-student were assaulted and robbed, with the crimes reported to the U of L Department of Public Safety, April 1-3. All three crime reports were sent out to students via e-mail warning of the violent behavior and descriptions of the suspects.

Heading toward the International Convention Center amidst the flood of cars adorned with placards which advertised the name of each driver's favorite politician, there was a subdued excitement building on the approach to Fourth and Market Streets. Not the sort of excitement present at an event where the participants expect to be entertained, but the sort of excitement from participants that expect to be enlightened.
