"For over a decade, students have registered complaints with SGA about the dining services available at the University of Louisville," SGA stated online about dining services.
The SGA supports a policy that will force students to spend money on services that they've complained about – the mandatory meal plan. They think that increasing the business in the SAC will allow new establishments to boom because the existing businesses will decide to give up on an area where the customers are actually forced to spend money on their products.


Senior guard enrolls at Oxford

There are not many students in the world that can brag about getting into one of England's two prestigious colleges. However, on Jan. 28, University of Louisville senior guard Will Scott was one of only 15 people across the world to get accepted into Oxford University to study Chinese.

University of Louisville Provost Shirley Willinghanz is to be commended for how she, and the rest of the administration handled the unprecedented ice storm that hit Louisville last week.
In an e-mail from November, Willinghanz explained "that weather calls are based on my assessment that the university can function safely, and that general conditions in the city make travel possible."

When I was a kid, a snow day was like summer vacation right in the middle of winter. No school. No homework. And a full day outside with the other kids in the neighborhood. A snow day was an oasis in a week full of 6:30 a.m. wake-up calls and mundane grammar lessons.
If my memory serves me correctly, snow days were a lot more fun back then. That's not to say I don't appreciate a day off school…or two or three or four. On Wednesday afternoon the procrastinator in me was determined to put off my homework for one more day.


Students sweep aside differences through Broomstick Hockey

Armed with merely a broomstick, tons of athletes flood onto the ice to compete in the annual broomstick hockey event.
Broomstick hockey, also known as broomball and most likely originated in Canada, is now spreading throughout the United States.
For University of Louisville alumni Zach Hensley, the unorthodox sport is the perfect way to get students to connect with one another.


Transfers find difficulty and success

Jackie Washington wasn't always a Cardinal.
The junior sociology major who transferred to the University of Louisville from Cambellsville University her sophomore year chose to come here because, as a bigger city, Louisville offered more career opportunities.
