From playing small gigs at the Hideaway Saloon to selling out weekends at Headliners, Nashville-native Moon Taxi has taken a liking to the Louisville music scene.

WFPK brought Moon Taxi and opener The Lonely Biscuits to Headliners’ Stage for Dec. 4 and 5.

Despite the fog and the cold, The Lonely Biscuits made the crowd of 20-somethings feel like they were on the West Coast. The upbeat guitar and heavy bass lines couldn’t have blended better. They just recently release their EP titled “Come Around,” on iTunes.

To make the room feel even more vibrant, Moon Taxi gave us a heck of a rock show. All colors of lights, synchronized guitars, 10-minute solos–the works. Moon Taxi has been around since 2006, and with the release of their fourth album “Daybreaker” in October, they seem to really have their sound solidified into indie pop with classic rock influences. The guys really wanted as many Louisville fans to see their set as possible in one weekend, and understandably so.

As soon as they took the stage, fans went wild. People started dancing along with the peppy riffs and singing along with every chorus. At one point during the song “Morocco”, Moon Taxi just jammed out with the crowd continued to sing the chorus to band. The band appeared as happy to see the fans as the fans were to seem them. Lead singer Trevor Terndrup even donned an iconic Kentucky favorite, the “YALL” shirt, to show his love for this locale.

Somehow, the mood of the performance seemed to make everyone feel better about themselves and lift spirits. Moon Taxi and The Lonely Biscuits were a good pairing of pop-indie-alternative. It’s definitely what the doctor ordered after this week of freezing-cold wind and rain in the Ohio Valley.
